"The Brufut Education Project"
|
From Ministikwan Lake to The
Gambia, Africa.
Its amazing how the global
community of yoga can bring likeminded
people together.
Earlier this fall I received a
random e-mail from Vanessa,
daughter of Maui yogi Nancy
Gilgoff. Over the years of vacationing
in Maui and practicing
yoga I had been introduced to
Nancy and the House of Yoga
& Zen. After reading Vanessas
e-mail and her list of requests I
immediately thought with the help
of our community this is a task I
could help with.
Vanessa is working with a group from the UK called the
Brufut Education Project. The work they do is in The Gambia,
western Africa and the assistance they are looking for is simple.
There is a list of items they are looking for and my plan is to
fi ll a 40-foot sea container with those items and ship it to them.
Sounds easy!
Bryan McGonigle of Bry-Tan Trucking has graciously offered
the use of his head-office lot located at 5502 63rd Ave. in
Lloydminster. Here we will spot the sea can for loading. You
will be welcome to drop your donations off during regular
business hours.
Chase from Store It Containers Ltd. has also donated the use
of a 40-foot sea can to temporarily store your donations before
shipping.
I hope a 40-foot sea can is not too ambitious and we can
all rally to fill it. No doubt the recipients will be more than
grateful for the effort.
I have also set up a trust account at TD Canada Trust to
accept any monetary donations as it will take some cash to
ship the container along with delivery at
the other end. The trust account will be in
my name: Paul Pospisil.
I have to tell you there is no corporate
organization behind this endeavour. The
strategy is as simple as fill the container
and ship it, help the people at the other
end with items which will no doubt improve their quality of
life, while not making a big deal about it. Just doing it because
we care.
I trust everyone will check the list of requests and govern
themselves accordingly as we do not wish to ship something
we would be putting in the landfill here.
