Lately, as we have been cross country
skiing around Ministikwan Lake, we
have had the pleasure of watching our
military perform tactical manoeuvres
with fighter jets as they train for combat
readiness. We also see the slow approach
of the massive surveillance planes (the
ones which fly around the world for
weeks on end without touching down
Just imagine
as they gather intelligence) flying low
as they are heading to touch down at
the Cold Lake Air Force Base, perhaps
to refuel or for maintenance. Normally
one would not really give this activity
a second thought, but recently while I
was downtown Calgary and at a trade
show in Michigan, I was solicited for the
purchase of black Afghani hash, said to
have the official seal and all.
This got me thinking that if Afghani Hash is the dominate product on the
market in both Canada and the United
States and we are both part United
Nations Military Mission in the Middle
East and there really is little or no
commercial trade taking place with the
West during these turbulent times. This
leaves one to speculate as to the method
in which such products make there way
into North America.
If the military is the network and
the purveyors it is quite likely being
purchased from the Taliban, which if
I am not mistaken would mean we are
providing the means for these guerrillas
to continue fighting against us, seems a
little warped that it may be our money
paying for our service men to come
home in a box.
On a brighter note, it appears that in
Maui, Hawaii there is a great concern
that if they stop growing sugar cane the
sweeping green landscape will not be
the same, it has been suggested that the
cane fi elds be replaced with the production
of Maui Gold (Maui Wow-eee)
medicinal marijuana. Thereby allowing
the government to levy tax. I am sure
that would also make all those flower
children living in the back country very
happy.
With that Bill Clinton would not have
to worry that he smoked but didn’t
inhale and our Olympian Ross Rebagliati
inhaled but didn’t smoke as for Mr.
Harper didn’t he just experiment?
When you think about it, the First
Nation Communities have casinos,
why wouldn’t they become producers
and supply the Federal and Provincial
Governments with Canadian product
seems like a natural progression and
would get our governments out from
under their reluctance to legalize the use
of marijuana in Canada.
Imagine all this by watching fighter
jets tear up the sky over Ministikwan
Lake.
