Great start to the games
The opening ceremonies for the 2010 Olympics were absolutely awesome and at a
fraction of the price compared to four years ago. The stunning performances by the First Nations from across the Canadian Nation were spectacular and their endurance throughout was incredible.
Although I had some trouble warming up to Peter Pan from Montreal flying across the Vancouver Dome to Joni Mitchell’s song “Both Sides Now” in the depiction of the Prairies, I missed something there.
The Prairie Icon from Consort Alberta KD Lang brought me back as she was grounded in her bare feet delivering a heart rendering version of the Leonard Cohen song “Hallelujah”. Definitely a great start to the games.
Also close to home I was goggling Donna Kay / Olympics and we were very happy to find Donna Kay’s video “Round Round Round” is being shown on the Official Olympic Web site.
Ministikwan Lake is at the Olympics, it’s a great day.
Alvin Chief from Island Lake worked with the Onion Lake Pow Wow committee to enable us to shoot the video during their International Pow Wow just North of Lloydminster.
The committee was gracious with their permission and today both Onion Lake along with Island Lake First Nations can be proud their people and culture are directly represented with this music video during the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver.
We shot the video over three days with Chris Markowski and his crew from Calgary and my crew from Ministkwan Lake. The Red 1960 Ford Truck at the time was owned by Chief Leslie Crookedneck who also graciously loaned it for the production.
Ministikwan Lake First Nation is also represented at the Olympics by Joey Chief who formed part of the dance troupe.
Ministikwan Lake is part of the Olympic Spirit 2010.
