On The afternoon of January 9, 2012 about an inch of rain fell onto Ministikwan Lake melting off any snow we did have.
It was minus 2 when I left for Lloydminster and by the time I arrived the road was dry with a temperature of plus 7 degrees. What a contrast. The return trip was even more interesting as the GT heading out of Paradise Hill was like a sheet of ice challenging your driving skills to the limit.
A few skids this way along with a few holy Sh#ts I made it back to the lake. Along with the warm weather we have been experiencing some of the most spectacular sunsets similar only to those during the summer when the sun is furthest in the North West.
The Ministikwan Lake Community will morn this week the Passing of their oldest member. Maggie Crookedneck mother of the current Chief Leslie Crookedneck and former Chief Lawrance Crookedneck. Maggie passed away peacefully Tuesday evening with all of her family at her side as she slipped into another journey. Maggie had achieved over ninety years as a resident of Ministikwan Lake. She lived across the bay from us and was one of the only people who could correctly pronounce my name. When I would phone her house she would ask who it was, when I said Paul from across the bay she would say Pospisil it was sort of uncanny. Maggie will be sadly missed in the community.
An update on filling the container for the Brufut Education Project. The container is over half full and the donations continue to roll in. As I look over their web site www.brufuteducationproject.com you see they are welding with sun glasses instead of proper goggles or shields so if you have any extra shields not being used this may be a place to send them. Hand tools also seem to be in short supply; books are also welcome as the people do speak English, a cement mixer would be an asset, I have included an outboard motor, another would be incredible, there are a good 35 bikes so far a hospital bed, a number canes , soccer balls would also be awesome. The container is located in the Bry-Tan Truck Yard just down the street from Fountain Tire on the Alberta side.
At this time I plan to ship the container on the 23rd of January which allows two more weeks to finish filling the container. The quote to ship the container is $8,640.00 from Lloydminster to the Gambia Africa.
I have set up a bank account at the TD Bank account 0885 5211398 if anyone or their corporate entity is in a position to assist with this part of the endeavour it would be much appreciated. I am available at 1-306-837-4731 or pospisil@sasktel.net if anyone requires additional information. Thank you.
